Update: Since publication, Mr. Wise has also agreed to teach a second course, Statistical Models.

Morgan Wise, Director of Data Integration and Data Quality at First National Bank of Omaha, has joined the faculty of the Midland MBA. Mr. Wise has worked for First National Bank for more than a decade, beginning as a Senior Statistical Analyst and rising to his current position, where he focuses on making data available and accessible for the entire bank.

Mr. Wise has joined the faculty to teach Decision Models this spring. This course teaches the analysis of complex management problems through structuring models for probabilistic analysis, including the construction and use of decision trees and other simulations.

Mr. Wise has extensive expertise in the application of statistics to allow informed business decisions. He has worked on projects including the development of portfolio loss and economic capital models and the buildout of reports and training manuals from these detailed statistical forecasts.

“The volume and availability of data is changing how modern businesses are run,” Mr. Wise said. “Today's managers need to understand the language of modelers, statisticians and data scientists to make informed decisions.”

After graduating from Brigham Young University with a Masters in Statistics, Mr. Wise immediately began using practical applications of statistics to help large firms such as First Data and First National Bank of Omaha. His growing responsibilities at each company demonstrate both his commitment and expertise.

“Morgan’s first-hand knowledge of statistics will be a great learning opportunity for our students,” said Raymond Sass, Dean of the MBA at Midland University. “His deep understanding of data-driven strategy will be extremely valuable as they continue into the second half of the program.”

Mr. Wise’s practical experience using models to drive decisions for First National adds to the already diverse set of professional experience found in the Midland MBA faculty. Professors include industry leaders such as former CFO and Executive Vice President of Valmont, Terry McClain, Director of Pricing Strategy at Walmart, Bill Bennett, and Senior Director of Data Management at First National Bank of Omaha, Avi Atholi. The passion and professional experience of the Midland MBA faculty adds value to each course, allowing them to map real-world examples onto the theoretical models of business.

As Mr. Wise said, “When a student not only understands a concept, but sees how they can use it in their daily lives, the excitement is contagious.”
