Merit-Based Scholarships & Aid

The scholarship categories below are available to all applicants, and applicants may receive support from more than one fund.

Presidential Scholar

Each year, Midland names a small number of individuals in the incoming class as Presidential Scholars. These Scholars are selected based on their ability to fulfill Midland’s mission to “inspire people to learn and lead in the world with purpose” and on the innovative ways they have done so in their personal and professional lives.

Midland Scholar

Midland alumni form the core of the broader Midland community and, in recognition of this support, the MBA program also names a small number of Midland Scholars in each incoming class. These Scholars are selected based on their ability to represent the Midland identity in diverse ways, and this scholarship is only open to Midland University or Midland Lutheran College alumni.

Women’s Leadership

While great progress has been made, women remain underrepresented in business leadership, and helping women reach these leadership levels benefits both organizations and the broader society. Students awarded this scholarship are working to develop their own leadership skills and start this change in their professional community.

Community and Diversity Leadership

The growth, development, and health of a diverse community depends on talented individuals dedicating time, resources, and labor to enrich it. As a community-focused institution, Midland values community development and benefits from the labors of those who share these values. Students awarded this scholarship are focusing their careers on driving such progress in the greater Omaha area.

Non-traditional Business Leadership

The diversity of the business community continues to grow, and its expansion relies on the inclusion of individuals with diverse academic, personal, and professional background. Students awarded this scholarship come from a non-traditional business background or are currently working in a non-traditional business environment and are committed to the broadening of the definition of business.

Senior Professional Leadership

The contributions of experienced leaders defines both the classroom experience and professional network of Midland University students, and the diversity of experiences shared can enrich every discussion. Students awarded this scholarship have been in the workforce at least 15 years, and demonstrate a dedication to professional leadership and mentorship.

Young Professional Leadership

Young professionals have the opportunity to define the future of the workplace. Building well-rounded business skillsets earlier in their careers will help these individuals positively influence the growth of their company sooner, and translate to longer term growth opportunities. Students awarded this scholarship have been in the workforce less than ten years and have focused on creating positive change in their organization early in their career.

Industry Leadership

Midland University is committed to partnering with the broader business community to define educational need, and to ensuring the development of talented individuals in in-demand areas. Students awarded this scholarship have expertise or passion in one of the following areas: entrepreneurship, finance, project management, or technology.
